I have been a prenatal educator since 1986.
I started teaching standard classes at a Toronto midwifery clinic and then progressed to teaching hypnosis once I became certified in hypnosis in 1998.
In the interim, I practiced midwifery in Toronto and the US in home, hospital and birth centre settings.
I delivered lots of babies.
I have been to many births as a doula.
I have two children, both born at home.
I trained in HypnoBirthing (R) with Marie Mongan in 1999, but I branched out to create ChildbirthJoy Prenatal Hypnosis so that I could better serve clients.
I train hypnotists in Pain Management.
ChildbirthJoy is not "hypnosis-lite."
In this series, you learn self-hypnosis.
You will be able to take yourself deep, because the deeper you go into hypnosis, the more comfortable it will be.
You will also learn more hypnotic Comfort Techniques than you can shake a stick at...not that you need to know them all, but because you can choose what suits you best.
And last, but not least - I teach responsible hypnosis. When pain is masked (with hypnosis or pharmaceuticals), it is very important that it is done PROPERLY. Regardless of where you plan to have your baby (home, the Toronto Birth Centre, or hospital), it is critical that you are in the setting of your choice and everyone who should be there, is there.

I am an expert in hypnosis for pain management.
I am an expert in teaching prenatal classes.
I have walked the walk, because I used hypnosis for my first birth, long...long before it became popular. (I had an amazing birth, by the way.)
Come and learn with me and I will help you prepare for the birth you want.

What a client says...
I took this course and had a 6 hour labour (start to finish) with my first and 90 minute labour with my second.
I didn't even know I was actually in labour for sure with the second, until my midwife checked me and said I was 10 cm!
We listened to Shawn’s calming voice before we went to sleep at night. I think besides helping the birth, the recording helped us fall asleep faster!
